I'm back!

This week has been insanely busy, so I apologize for not posting since last Thursday. However, I did take a bunch of pictures, so here's what I've been cooking, eating, and doing this week:

A stirfry :I'd accidentally made it a bit too spicy, so I placed the stirfry on top of some crisp bean sprouts. This worked like a charm- the sprouts balanced the spiciness well, and I was able to eat my dinner after all.

I made a warm, soothing curry soup, and it was delicious. I followed one of my old recipes, too!

My parents were in BC last weekend, and they brought back some wonderful things from the Okanagan, like peaches and super-sweet plums. Also, when they were there, they went to a nut orchard, and picked up some fresh walnuts, chesnuts, and hazelnuts. Mmm! Chestnuts are my favorite nut EVER, so I was very pleased. :)

And, on Monday my dad pressed the grapes after letting them sit in barrels for a few days to ferment. I'm not quite sure about what's going on, but here's a picture of the pressing equipment:

Mm, this was a soup from FatFree Vegan- the "Clouds in a Sunset/Roasted Cauliflower Soup". We added a plethora of other vegetables, and it was delicious. I would definitely have this again.

This soup wasn't made by me:Nope, it was my littlest sister, K., who made it! After school one day, she said that she didn't like the soup everyone else was going to have for dinner, so she made her own with carrots, potatoes, onions, garlic... And she did it all herself! Even the cutting and sauteing- she's such a cool 7-year-old. :)

We bought a can of Soyatoo the other day- I have yet to try it, but my sisters had some and they said that it was pretty good. Yay! That's a real compliment coming from those whipped-cream-avores.

This was my lunch yesterday:
Erm, I can't quite remember what it was, but it was good.

Yesterday, I made a double-batch of Dreena Burton's Homestyle Chocolate Chip cookies and put them right into the freezer for next week. I'm having a bunch of friends over and I know that these cookies will be well-loved. :)

Some cookie pictures:

And that's all!

Anyways, I know that I promised to do a post on sprouting and I'll get right on that as soon as I can!

(and Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all of you up here in Canada)

Your cookies look so professional- cookie perfection! And I see you're not the only foodie in your family- your parents brought back so many goodies, and your dad's making wine! Cooooool.

Yeah, my sister is awesome indeed. Maybe she should start a blog when she's old enough...
