Hummus sushi...

That should be voted 'Worst Blog Photo of the year'!

:( This didn't work out too well... See, I have an immense dislike towards rice, but I want to partake in the whole sushi shebang. I figured that I could make a reallly thick hummus and use that instead, but guess rice really is necessary.

On the other hand... I saw a sushi recipe on Fat free vegan that used SPINACH instead- mmm! That sounds like a much better diea than my hummus much. :)

We've made sushi without rice in the past, and it turns out lovely. We found the recipe in a raw cookbook. One version has just veggies in the middle (sprouts, carrots, cucumber, and avocado if you want it) with a very thin layer of miso spread on one end of the nori. Another version we tried has the same ingredients plus a "pate" made with soaked raw sunflower seeds, almonds, and a few herbs ground up into a paste. I can give you the full recipe if you're ever interested!

Oh, those both sound delicious! I'm interested indeed in the full recipe, if you don't mind. :) Thanks so much!

mmm...I make hummus sushi all the time. I don't even use thick hummus. It generally works out if you roll it tight enough. You should try it again =]
