Just a quick post

I made something today :D

Peanut Butter Cups! Just like Reese's!

Seriously, this is one of the simplest dessert recipes ever. It only has 4 ingredients, two of which you could probably leave out (the sugar and the salt), and none of the steps are too complicated. Granted, it does take a certain amount of skill to melt chocolate, and to paint the inside of muffin cups...

In any case, I can't vouch for how these taste just yet, as they are for a friend, but they turned out great as far as I can tell.

As well, I've been brainstorming other brilliant combinations based on this whole chocolate cup idea:
  • Peanut butter & banana cups- add a thin layer of banana, or maybe puree it into the peanut butter itself
  • Chocolate cups as ice cream bowls :D
  • Chocolate cups with ice cream inside, and that layer on top as well... so the ice cream is like a surprise :o
  • Chocolate cups as 'pie crusts' for individual Chocolate Espresso Truffle Pies
  • Chocolate cups with a minty filling
  • ..... a coffee filling
  • ..... a coconut filling
  • ..... a spicy chili filling, for an interesting twist

And on and on... Feel free to brainstorm with me by leaving a comment!

In any case, judging my all my posts lately, you'd think that all I do is bake treats and eat little else. Not true! I haven't had much time to cook, but I've been subsisting quite well on shredded cabbage + my favorite salad dressing du jour, steamed carrot, reheated seitan, oatmeal, and pita bread. Yum.

See you all around, and I hope to catch up with all your blogs!

Hi! I'm Melissa from Singapore, I'm fourteen want to go vegan but my mom staunchly believes that meat is essential...I thought I would never meet a vegan anywhere as young as me...

How did your parents react? My mom gets really mad everytime I try talking to her.

Thanks alot for being vegan and actually posting the stuff you make! You can visit my blog too if you want...

:D Thanks for the comments!

Oh, I've never made anything with carob before, but I could definitely try that!

Vegmomma- they would make excellent Christmas presents!

Melissa- I've posted on your blog :)

Wonderful! I have to start thinking of holiday gift goodies, and these fit the bill. I'm thinking an endless variety of nut butters, or how about a white chocolate shell with a dark chocolate/caramel truffle filling? Ok, there I go drooling again- thanks! :->

Thanks alot Peggy! I don't make my mom furious during dinner, but she starts to give me freedom during lunch.

So now I make my own lunch but Mom (and the nanny) stare, more like glare at me everytime I get cooking, like they're trying to make me give up or something(:

It's not that easy being vegan in Singapore as compared to in the US or Canada, but I do try, it just takes more effort finding ingredients(:

Where do you usually find teen friendly recipes?

Bazu- Oooh, I like those ideas! An almond butter filling woult be my absolute fave, mmm...

Mel- (I'll just answer on your blog again)

Thanks Peggy! I never make soups or stir frys, cause I can't chop veggies very well. especially garlic and onion.

How do you make a salad, especially selecting the veggies to use and the dressing?

I always check out fatfree vegan! But Susan's recipes always seem pretty difficult, especially since we don't have any soygurt(available but very expensive), liquid smoke or smoked paprika here.

I'm visiting my aunt in LA pretty soon, so I'll make sure I get lotsa vegan goods there that I can't in Singapore!

Whoops I'm talking too much here. One more question though: Dreena seems to use alot of maple syrup. Here a bottle of maple syrup costs close to S$11. (about 7 US dollars?) Is maple syrup cheaper in Canada?
