A trip to T&T

Today after school, I took the bus to T&T, an Asian supermarket in West Edmonton Mall. Oh, how I love that place. Sure, it does sell some very not-vegan stuff, but there's tofu, vegetables, fruit, rice, spices, seitan, other fake meats, a billion different soymilks and fruit juices, sauces... It's awesome :)

This time, I bought some canned water chestnuts, canned sliced bamboo shoots, kimchi, and soybean noodles.

I love, love, love water chestnuts! I don't have them very often, only when we go out to eat (which is rarely), and if it's a Chinese restaurant. So why not buy a can so I can have them at home? WOOHOO.

I first had bamboo shoots recently, and I'm now a big fan of those as well. They'll be delicious incorporated into a stir-fry!

Kimchi is one of my new obsessions. It's spicy, salty, yummy, and good for you! I'm actually convinced that it's really been helping my digestion lately. I used to get bloated quite often, thanks to the high volume of high-fiber food in my vegan diet, but that's totally gone WAY DOWN. Is that TMI? Sorry. I'm just a happy, kimchi-munching fool :)

And those tofu noodles! They looked sooo cool, and at 2$ for a bag I couldn't resist. It looks like they're real healthy too- the only ingredients are soybeans and water. Yay! I'm thinking of using this high-protein 'spaghetti' just like wheat pasta- stay tuned for that!

I love Asian grocery stores! So many cool products, and it's usually really cheap!

you're so lucky that you can do that! the closest (good) asian grocery store is at least an hour away from me.

if the soy noodles are what i think they are, they might not work so well as a noodle sub. the kind that we get that are similar to those resemble "meat" rather than noodles. maybe yours are different though. keep me posted!

Chocolate covered vegan- Me too! And cheap for sure; I got all of that for less that 9$!

tofufreak- Yikes, that's really too bad, you have my sympathy for sure. Yeah, they don't quite have a texture like spaghetti, but I managed to use them like paste a bit- that'll be up here soon!

lisa- I should have some soy noodle-y goodness posted here real soon! :)
